Knowledge. Compassion. A Path to Relief.

Behind every headache is a story...

of persistence, frustration, and the search for relief that truly lasts.

Over the years, I’ve heard so many of those stories from patients and friends who felt trapped in cycles of pain and short-term fixes. Listening to them changed the way I saw pain and deepened my commitment to finding better answers.

Those stories — and the people behind them — became the inspiration for my book. It’s a message of hope, built on years of experience and the belief that lasting relief is possible when we start to understand the body in a new way.

Listening to a Pattern of Pain

For more than 30 years, I’ve listened to patients and friends describe how their headaches were holding them back from living normal, fulfilling lives. Many had tried everything — medications, doctor visits, even complex pain clinic treatments — spending thousands each year for only short-lived relief.

Behind their frustration was fear. Fear of what constant medication was doing to their health, and the sinking belief that this pain might simply be something they’d have to live with forever.

The Hands-On Difference

As a Manual Therapist, I began seeing a pattern others often missed. Many headaches weren’t mysterious at all — they were rooted in the body itself: tight neck and jaw muscles, stiff joints, poor posture, stress, and tension.

Through gentle manual therapy, I found that by releasing these restrictions and restoring mobility, people could find relief that medication alone couldn’t offer. Even clients nearly debilitated by migraines began to feel change within just a few sessions.

These methods weren’t secret or experimental — they were proven, well-established approaches to treating musculoskeletal pain. The real difference came from where we looked for the cause.

Understanding the Hidden Triggers

A large part of my work focuses on treating muscular trigger points — those small, tight knots within muscles that can refer pain elsewhere. When they occur in the neck and jaw, they can send pain signals that feel as if they’re coming from the head itself.

What’s more, trigger points can also create symptoms most people would never associate with muscles — like nausea, dizziness, or visual disturbances — common complaints among migraine sufferers.

You don’t have to live with constant pain or rely on endless medication. In A New Approach to Headache and Migraine, I share what decades of clinical experience have taught me — simple, natural ways to find lasting relief and get your life back on track.

The Missing Piece in Modern Care

At Olympic Park Sports Medicine Centre, I’ve been fortunate to work alongside doctors who understand the critical role muscular trigger points play in pain. But this awareness isn’t widespread.

Too often, patients tell me their treatment focuses solely on medication — stronger prescriptions, more pills — without addressing the muscular and lifestyle factors that keep pain returning. I realised that while medicine plays an important role, lasting relief required a more holistic, body-focused approach.

Beyond Treatment — A Lifestyle Approach

True healing goes beyond the treatment room. That’s why every session I provide includes practical coaching — simple, sustainable ways to prevent pain from recurring. Together, we look at posture, stress, exercise, sleep, and hydration — the everyday habits that have a powerful impact on headaches and overall wellbeing.

By addressing these lifestyle factors, many clients experience not only fewer headaches but also better energy, focus, and balance in daily life.

From Personal Struggle to Purpose

My interest in headaches isn’t just professional — it’s personal. I used to suffer from them myself. Over time, I discovered ways to prevent them naturally: by recognising early warning signs, managing tension, staying hydrated, and moving my body. Once I learned how to listen to what my body was telling me, my headaches became a thing of the past.

That experience changed how I saw pain — and how I could help others move beyond it.

A New Approach is Born

Hearing so many stories of frustration and failed attempts to find lasting relief, I wanted to offer genuine hope — a way forward that was natural, practical, and grounded in both science and experience.

That’s why I wrote A New Approach to Headache and Migraine — to share everything I’ve learned from decades of treating patients, researching causes, and exploring solutions that work.

This book is my way of helping you understand your body, take back control, and finally move beyond temporary fixes toward lasting relief.

It shares practical strategies to help people move beyond medication dependence and reconnect with the body’s natural ability to heal.
